The Lord is my light and my salvation whom then shall I dread, the Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid? When evil doers prey upon my body to devour, it's all my foes and enemies who fall to rise no more. Though an army camps against me, no fear shall fill my heart, I will maintain my confidence though war against me starts.
One request I've asked my Lord and this I will pursue, to dwell inside his holy house till all my days are through. I want to see his beauty and be filled with love and praise, to meditate upon his goodness in that holy place. For he will hide me when the day of trouble rushes in, he'll set me high upon a rock and keep me safe with him.
And now my head is lifted high though enemies abound, so I will offer sacrifices with a joyful sound. I will sing and to the Lord I'll make my melody, hear O Lord I cry aloud, be gracious answer me! I've heard you say seek my face and my heart replied, your face O Lord do I seek, your face from me don't hide!
Don't turn your servant back in anger, for you have been my aide. Do not reject me or forsake me my savior and my God. For though my father and my mother have forsaken me, still the Lord will take me up into His family. Teach me your way O Lord and guide me on the narrow road, don't turn me over to the plans of my enemies and foes!
For though my enemy assails with violence and lies, I'm confident I'll see God's goodness with my living eyes. Wait for the Lord expectantly his goodness is our share. Wait for the Lord with confidence, be strong and don't despair.
